How long have you lived in Ivanhoe?
I grew up in Fairfield, went to school locally and always aspired to buy my own apartment in Ivanhoe. I’ve been here for two years now and I love it! It’s safe, has great parks, shopping, an easy commute to the city and it’s small enough to have a real sense of community.
What would an ideal weekend in Ivanhoe look like to you?
After a busy week in the city, I start every Saturday rain or shine with the 8am ParkRun (5km) at nearby Warringal Parklands. If I’m not running, I’m on the volunteer crew. With an average of over 170 participants every week, it’s incredibly social and a great vibe. I’ve met lots of Ivanhoe locals my own age, with similar interests. We then grab a post-run coffee and breakfast at Pinkie and discuss our times.
In the afternoon I chill with a good book or magazine and then it’s a leisurely afternoon walk with my labradoodle Ziggy in Chelsworth Park. On Saturday evenings my friends and I like to meet at Vino Central for a glass of wine and pre-dinner snacks, often accompanied by some great live music. If it’s a special occasion we’ll go to Vatutto for some of the best seafood in Melbourne. Otherwise Wood Fire Pizzeria & Cucina is our go-to for amazing pizza and pasta with fabulous cocktails.
Sunday morning Ziggy and I go to the Alphington Farmers Market, which runs every week from 9am-1pm. Here I can grab my weekly local fruit and vege as well as artisan bread, eggs and honey. My weekdays are super busy with work, so I spend my Sunday afternoons meal prepping for the week ahead and then my work lunches and dinners are ready to go. Sunday night is dinner with my parents in nearby Fairfield or Netflix with Ziggy and some stretching before an early night. Ivanhoe really is the perfect neighbourhood for me!
